Okay, so my buddy brings over his MS 211c. Figured out pretty quick muffler was stopped up. Anybody got any ideas on how to tune up this muffler after we get it unclogged?

Got the saw running. A new carb was fitted but saw still would not run. It would idle but die as throttle was advanced. Not much exhaust coming from muffler. We pulled muffler and determined it was clogged. The spark arrestor screen is removable, slides out from the top of muffler. Cleaned screen with wire wheel. It was completely clogged.

Saw runs fine now. Discussed oil mixture with owner. Seems like problem fixed now.

We are still interested in tweeking muffler for better performance. Curious if running without arrestor screen would cause any harm. Homeowner use in backyard only. Any thoughts?

Running without the screen won't hurt anything. Using the gasket as a template open up the inlet to match the port. You could try drilling a few holes inthe muffler but may just get more noise, the open port cylinder design really doesn't lend itself to hot rodding.
