I put this here because I am gonna saw the White Oak logs.

As this White Oak tree stood yesterday.  (Note the dark green ornamental bush behind the tree compared to the last picture.)  Sadly it had some root rot and was deemed to come down.  It was on my next door neighbor's property but we got the benefit of the beauty and the morning shade.  This is also the tree that donated acorns to Chuck White a couple of times.

A 107' crane aided with the take down.

A 13' log is being lifted off of the stem.

And finally the 15' butt log is attached.

And lifted off of the stump.

The 13' & the 15' ready to become either bridge or trailer decking.  The butt log is 34".  Yes, I immediately saw the blue indicating metal but what the heck, my logs and my blade.  Let-er-rip.

A hole in my shade.  (Note the dark green ornamental bush in the center that stood behind the tree in the first picture above.)

I hate it when I take down a yard tree and then it dawns on me how much shade it was providing- I can't put it back up!😊

That's a nice hole you have there.

Yes, sadly so.  The neighbor had a total of 5 trees removed.  Three SYP that died last year, this one, and a Red Oak that also had root rot and carpenter ants but was a solid straight 28" butt tree.

I could have gotten all or any part of the logs but my sawing situation dictated for me to only get what I have an immediate use for.  I was not even tempted to get any more.  I do not have a use for the lumber and do have a couple of years worth of firewood.

Marty came over for a look-see.  The lumber will become trailer decking for an equipment trailer that he is refurbishing.

Lynn,

I thought you had a hole in your fancy umbrella and was going to post to fix it with duct tape. Sorry to see the tree gone but glad you got some nice bridge timbers.

I got some nice white oak from a neighbor last year but I had to cut them in 5' lengths to handle them with my undersized JD750. It fell across the creek on the other neighbor's side so I talked with him and cut the tops and limbs into firewood so he made out fine on the deal and peace and harmony was maintained in the Madam's Creel Community. I cut most of mine into tomato stakes.

I tell my customers the trees I cut to make lumber are shade harvested, 'cause when I cut them I ain't got no more shade.  ffsmiley
