Difference between a 254 and 254xp.

 ??? I wass just curious does a 254xp have extra or  is it just a year thing? The 254 is a nice saw pretty fast for the size too   8)

Differenses had more to do with production time, than with the model designations. The most notisable changes (different starter cover and the addition of "Air Injection") happend well after the designation change.
The power specs went slightly up at some point, but I don't know when.

Differences in early & late model: early sm. decal on starter, no decomp & no air inj.  IIRC the air inj models have decomp.  There is a thin ring model too.

Thank for the info so I take the reg. 254 has no air injection right?

Ok that's what I thought it's still a nice size saw for power to weight ratio
