Jeff is in the right.  Pretty simple concept, it's his house and it's his rules.  Not to mention his rules seem to work well.

> Networking is visiting other sites right.  Getting your name out there.  It's pretty unfair to reprimand a guy for "networking".  The very way you started.

Networking is going to somewhere and pressing flesh and talking. Hanging your banner at the entrance over the person putting the event on, who has planned, organized, paid for, done the legwork, opened my developed contact list, to present something I am selling, Service or product, is really a form of theft. Talking, passing out cards at my event, okay.

I'm just saying .   .   .

> Be the bigger man and move your poster to an open spot.

The bigger man is usually the one that takes what they want from others.

I'm just guessing but I think it is safe to assume you have never done the work to understand the cost of a opening a start-up business and keeping it successful. Competition = good. Theft = bad.

Arboristsite allows posting links to personal websites.

Perhaps, that's why we are here instead of there.   :-\

There are also security reasons why we have to be careful about outgoing links. The last thing I want, or any site owner wants to hear is that "I got a virus, or I got malware from clicking on a link from your forum".
We don't know who many of these new people are. Actually no idea. We have no idea the real reason a person comes until it has become apparent from their forum activity. Letting people come on here and post links to other sites willy-nilly on the forum is not a good idea.

When the admins see an out going link, they usually investigate it if it is posted by a person that we do not know well. That takes time, but it something we try to do to make sure the integrity of the forestry forum is maintained.

Jab had 12 posts here.  6 of them were about how he doesn't agree with how this site is run so I took care of his problem for him.

If I have a disagreement with Jeff, I make it private. There is no reason to make it public.

So did I gather that troll hunting season just opened, and two have been bagged in just this one thread???

That was certainly something I considered, but I do not see and I.P. evidence of that, but if you look at the posts, could very well be.

Or maybe it was his nerdy little brother. Anyway, it's a shame-- shameful, and a sham, and a lot of unnecessary jabs.  :-X

I also thought it was the same person with a different name.  I wouldn't know how to check an IP address.  It's a good thing the boss is so tech savvy.

My son, Garrett, could probably get IP addresses from a forum. Or the Russians!  :D  :D

Messing about with 'puters is sometimes fun.  Sometimes I find myself someplace and I don't know how to get back.  I don't like that feeling.

I don't like it either, but usually, I just swivel around in my chair, and sure enough the rest of my bedroom is right there where it's suppose to be.  ;D

You can get them from a website you have administration control of, but he wouldn't get them from here unless he was able to hack the site. Most unlikely.
