I like the 655, it is a rebadged Pioneer which was a very popular brand in Canada.

Good lookin lineup there !!! Sometimes when i'm going to cut firewood i'll go old school also, 44 and 61 husqvarna. I haven't had either for very long , its just kinda fun to leave the newer saws and run the older ones.

Here's a couple of my "old Poulans".  1968 Model 47 and a 1963 Model 43.  They cut quite well too!

They are nice, obviously well taken care of. I had a Poulan 3000 which I liked although it was a little heavy but it ran off one night

I've never been around a 43 or 47, they both look like excellent condition, one is the same year i was born and the other is 5 years older than me. Heck they are both in alot better shape than i am !!!!!!

I think in general Poulan got a bad rep because people have a tendency to relate them all to the less expensive models sold by Sears and Roebuck .In truth they made some very good models at one time .

Poulan 655bp is a horse !!!!! On another thread a year or two back i was trying to figure out what poulan saw a friend i worked with one summer in the eighties was, i couldn't remember what it was. Here awhile back i found out that it was a 655bp, man would that thing cut.

Part of the reason it is fun to collect Poulans, is taking them to a firewood party and watching my friend's faces when they try a Poulan from the Pre-Box Store days.

I usually take a 3000 or 3750, plus my 415 for this stuff, and maybe one of the old ones for kicks and lots of racket!

IIRC, the 5200 was a rebadged Sachs-Dolmar, they rebranded the XXV. A Stihl dealer I worked for put a few of them and the 6000 out with local loggers but they wouldn't switch.

Sachs-Dolmar did indeed rebadge some saws for Poulan, but the 5200 is a Poulan design.  I had one like the Craftsman 5.2-30 in the previous post, and it still had the original chain and the price tag and manuals for it.  Definitely a Poulan.
The 5500 and 6000 were some of the models made by Dolmar.

The craftsman 5.2-30 is a good running saw just need the handle. I am the 2nk owner, a friend bought 2 in the mid 70's, the other one is in parts.
used the 3300 today, I brought it new.
