In the summer of 2002, amidst the worst fire season on record, an editorial cartoon ran in many papers across the country showing an indignant Smokey Bear, one paw wrapped around a mug of beer, the other pounding the bar.

It sure would be nice if folks would take on a little bit more responsibility for their own circumstances.  Smokey's message of preventing man made fires is still worth airing but the squirrel has a very valid point to make also.  The woods is big enough for them both.
