So a flat knife is on the top. Spindle on the left. First pass does the tongue and top surface. Run all the stock through.

Swap spindle knife for groove, flip all stock over and "bottom" gets planed along with the other edge.

It would be cool to add a second side spindle to get three sides done in one pass...

The build is a piece of plywood that the kiln dried legs are screwed to with thicker cookies around the edge and veneer cookies on top. Epoxy flood fill, then polished with hard wax oil. It was a fun little project using throw away scraps from Frontierland and the weeds from my front yard. I used the sawmill to level cut the legs and a little bit of bracing between the legs and the plywood for extra strength. I like to take scrap materials and turn them into something that will eventually catch someone's eye as unique.

I don't market weirdo pieces like this as it was made for someone else. She didn't want it. I modified it, raised the price and out it went! It occasionally happens that someone will commission something that is a little wacko and when they actually see their "creation", they walk away from their downpayment and the piece. It invariably works to jack up the price and somebody will walk in, sometimes, 45 minutes later and say they just have to have it! Go figure  ffcheesy

I do, but I don't think he would tolerate me for long. I'd be over weekly asking if I could 'just run these dozen or so leg blanks through his tenon cutter?' and other such small things. ffcheesy

I think I may have done that at nearly every step in the turn around. Blowing and going through a log and go out the far end hit the up lever and return at the same time, but the 'return' is faster than the 'up' and whacked the log. BAM!
Cutting a 'limit to limit' log length and thinking I was just clear of the far end, hit the 'up' lever and BAM! (I was not clear, just to be clear.)
There are all kinds of variations, have fun with it and come up with your own! ffcheesy ffwave

Quote from: firefighter ontheside on February 26, 2019, 10:48:19 PMI made a cut and then went to raise the head so I could return it for the next cut.  Apparently I lowered the saw on accident instead of raised.  When I pulled the saw, the back of the blade hit the log and the blade came off the wheels.  At first I thought the blade broke, then I realized what had actually happened.  The blade appeared undamaged, but I was leery about putting it back on.  I figure at the least, some teeth got damaged.  Who's done this?

Who if anyone hasn't done it.  Steve

I see the great oil debate still has some life left in it.From Amsoil  to bunker oil ,100 to 1 or 10 to 1 ratio depending on the tides caused by the phases of the moon .Go get-em ,stand your ground . ffcheesy Now don't forget premixed fuel  at the country club if you are a member for around 20 bucks a gallon .Highly recommended for those $1000 pretty chainsaws used to cut firewood for the fire ring on the patio .

I was thinking you could just pull the brake switch, but it would run the little battery down.  you could have it on a charger but burn out the solenoid.  or attach the wire cable from the brake switch to a stake or fixed object and it will try to stop the trailer.  there we go.  well, they will prob. just drag it along.

Great job on finding a home made solution to your problem!

Does anyone else wish they were Larry's neighbor? I'd stop over at least once a week to to see what cool stuff he was up to. ffsmiley
