Title: Timber Frame Barn Raising in NH
Post by: Jim_Rogers on August 29, 2003, 06:33:02 AM
The Timber Framers Guild will be erecting a barn in New Hampshire.
The details of this event are at http://tfguild.org/rendezvous/colbath_homesteadvc/
What's happening is that the guild members and new students will be cutting the joinery on a "hammer beam" frame barn and erecting it.
The workshop/rendezvous starts on Sept 2, and runs until Sept 12th. The raising is planed for Sept 10th and 11th.
Here is a drawing of the frame:

That is one cool barn, don't suppose TFG needs to practice building one say in central IA. I have a spot all picked out. ;D

The finished frame photos haven't been posted on the timber framers guild site, yet.
But here is a link to the site where they will be:

That's a New England thing, they're not keen on log homes, but they sure love their timber frames!
I thought Michigan would be log home country??

Before the raising got going this man walked through the site and looked at everything:

We were told who he was, but I don't believe it.

Captain:
I placed a notice in this section, and in the Places and events section about this frame raising.
You'll need to keep an eye on both or one or other.
It's be a while before they enclose it, if you drove up this weekend or coming week you probably could see it standing, complete.
