Title: Bandsaw blades
Post by: rasorbackQ on March 13, 2014, 09:24:47 AM
Must be lots on here ref blades.
Been sawing now for a couple  seasons and after a few blade breaks and dog cutting its almost time to get a box of blades.  Blades I was using is Red streak from Wayco  Seems there has been a high increase of these blades  From $15 to $62 ea in the last 10 years after reading older posts.  Any sources for blades in Canada ?

The last order sheet says 14' x 1 1/4 x 1.1 (7/8) HB  Simmonds Red streak band saw blades. $18.34 ea
Will have to measure a broken blade to see the length . I didn't think they were 14' but a couple inches shorter.

Called WM in NS and it $406  ($30 ea) plus tax for 15 blades. $25 to ship them.
They say their blades are way better then the Red streak. Great sales man.

Called Wayco and its $221 ($22 ea) plus $122 for shipping and then the UPS broker fee which can be $25 or $200 or somewhere in between.

Steven, sounds like their taking a tuck on you, especially $122.00 for shipping. May be worthwile to take mommy on a road trip south to Maine and stock up on bands. What brand of bandmill do you have.?? I don't know is their any restriction on bringing bands across the border. Frank C.

Give Kasco Canada a call. A 174" band would be about $15.22 ea CDN.   Give Bruce a call and you'll be all set.

I've been considering Kasco too.  Let us know how the Woodmaxx work.  If I remember, the 144" only offered a 10* blade.

You can get them in 10, 7, and 4 degree.  They work great. Will be putting a fresh one on the mill in the morning!
