Hi, I cut my firewood off of my own land and have always just cut birch. This year I got a skidder so I can get to more areas then I could with my Bobcat which is what I used before. I have plenty of Black Ash in some of the wetter, lower areas and have been cutting some of that, one guy tells me that it needs at least 2 years to dry properly, anybody have any have any experience with this? My wood dries in an old barn with lots of ventilation. thanks

Black ash has a pretty high moisture content when cut green. According to some tables, the heartwood is 95%. This is different from white ash which is much lower mc% of 44 for sapwood and 46 for heartwood.
Two years seasoning is prolly a good goal to shoot for.
