I have a V4FD on my woodspliter and it has quit charging the battery. Anyone have any idea where to start looking for the problem?

If it doesn't have a belt driven alternator it will have a flywheel alternator. Look for 2 small boxes bolted to the tin work. They are about 1" wide by 1" high and 2" long. One is a rectifier and the other is a voltage regulator. Here is a site to look for parts.

I guess there should be voltage coming out of them. I will put a meter on them and see. Thanks For the info. I noticed the little boxes but didn't know what they were.

Let me dig around. I think I have a service manual for that engine.
