wanted to tap you guys minds on the brakes on my 1980 240 E tj . First are the parking brake and pedal brake on the same system ? And second my pedal is very stiff , and the brakes don't engage at all . Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated. So far everything I've read points to these machines being famous for brake problems .......thanks in advance .

Are u sure the e brake isn't cable/mechanical? I need to redo both mine this summer. My foot brake won't bleed back off so you have to use a wench and waste fluid. Which leads to a hard pedal also.

The parking brake should be cable operated, with a band around a drum. The pedal I thinkshould be pads on the inside of the drum, if pedal is hard could be air in the lines or the wheel cylinderis locked up and wont move the pads. Good luck
work with my father[jwilly] and my son. we have a 240 tj 160 barko[old] works great three generations working together
