I wasn't sure what to put this under , anyway I am going to build a wood splitter using one I have that was poorly made I.E. home built . My question is what would be a good hydro pump ,size etc. ? I will be using a 24 h.p. Onan to power it . I will also have a loader on it . I have little knowledge of pump sizing etc. any help is appreciated . This will be a very heavy duty splitter .  I have all the other parts I need .

When I built mine I went to a local hydraulic shop, gave them hp, cylinder size . They helped with pump and valve size.

with that kind of power you are unlimited on 2 stage pumps 22 gpm 26 gpm that will handle it  . You will need a very large oil tank . 1 gal. of tank for each gal of flow . I run 2500 psi on a 4 X 24 in. cylinder and it will test your welds .
