84"x 12" Crescent Machine Company Jointer
« on: December 03, 2011, 09:02:47 AM »
Here is an 84"x 12" Crescent Machine Company jointer that one of my buddies wants to sale.  He is asking $750 or best offer for it.  It is very heavy, about 1050 pounds without the motor and fence.  The bracket for the guard is there and one may be available from Crescent.   The bed and other machined surfaces have been protected with AMSOIL Heavy MP. The out-feed table does have one slight rust spot on it.  The motor is a 220 VAC, single phase.  It needs new drive belts. It was working (and working very well) before he took a apart for his move from Connecticut to Virginia.  The reason he has it for sale is that he is downsizing and this beast is very large and HEAVY.  Take my word, it is heavy.  It works very well as some of you who know the Crescent name.  It has the 4 bladed head.

Some of Crescent history can be found at this link:  http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=224

It's setting on a trailer in the Manassas area of Virginia and can be loaded with a tractor onto an open sided trailer or an open bed truck.

Here it is strapped down waiting for the trip from Winchester to Manassas.

Here is the fence setting on my tailgate.

Steve - sorry but I'm not reitred yet.  As a matter of fact, I got some real ugly news Friday.  The company I was going to go to work for is folding after August 2012.  The owner doesn't want to do it anymore.  He is a retired Navy Captain and doesn't need the money.  AND government contracting is getting harder and harder.  So with that said, it looks like I can NOT retire until around 12/31/2013 instead of 12/31/2012.

And - NO EGGROLLS FOR YOU.................................... ....until the first week end in August ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

First it was crab, now it is eggrolls  :)

Bruce,

Sorry to hear the bad news.  Still, you are close, so keep your head up.  That is a great looking jointer.  They don't build them like that anymore.

I have one of those in the "pipeline" here. I think it is a 16" babbitt though. Round head, Cresent. I should have it around Christmas. After he sells his, send them my way ;)

I am always "rescuing" stuff from the scrap yard.

Yes it is still for sale.  We can get it to Fairmont, WV, but we don't have anyway to load it.  We would need to built a ramp or come up with someway to get it out of the trailer into the bed of a truck or something.

If someone wants it, I can "trans load" with my little crane truck at the Pa Turnpike New Stanton exit 75, I will do it for free for FF members. This is about 75 miles from the Ohio border and EAST of Pittsburgh.

Ironwood - THANK YOU for the offer.

OK guys, this puts it about an hour to an hour and half from Fairmont, WV - north and a little east.  So, Ironwoods offer makes it a lot easier.  Make me an offer - reasonable offer.

A sale is currently pending - $600.00 and $0.25 per mile for delivery.  And it's local.
