This is starting to descend into one of those "my dad is tougher than your dad" arguments😊 My ol Dodge is right at 300K, and looks like about a million miles, because, Minnesota👎🏼

This was the Goat's last truck before he got this one.  That is him driving when he was younger.

This is WDH when he was younger with his bass.  :D :D :D

We appraise some high mileage pick up trucks. So far I believe in the F350 /3500 and under size we are at 970k miles. Most all haul cars/boats or for a U-Ship type co.

Well I didn't sleep a wink last night. Got on up at 4 am and hit the shower.
Kirk came by at 7:15 and off we went for a good breakfast.

Joe had the mill ready, shiney, clean and bright ORANGE!
Ya just don't realize how much paint fades over 7 years until you get a new mill.

Here's Joe and I sealing the deal just before I hooked up.

But before I left I got to see the biggest pile of dull blades I've ever seen.

Here's Kirk getting use to the feel of a heavy diesel on a wide head.

Loaded 2 boxes of 4° blades and a box of 7° Turbos. Laid them right on top of my firewood.  :)

We then hit the road home. Kinda funny seeing a radiator in my rear view mirror.  :D

After an hour and half driving back it felt good to pull in the driveway and get to the bathroom.  :o

We then pulled it across the road to the log yard and backed it in the shed. Set up went very well. no real difference.

Here are some things that are different to me.
Instead of a 3,000 psi gauge, i now have a 4,000 psi gauge.

The debarked is now Whicked! They have added tubing to support it to be able to sweep a wider path.
Looks strange to me.....but it works great!

A bigger engine and a bigger sound.....gotta get use to that.

Had a fun day seeing and talking to Joe. Tyler and Wendy again. They make things very pleasant.
Got some FREE GOODIES too.....love it and more stuff coming from Woodmizer.  8)

Now I gotta read 2 huge manuals and an engine manual.  :P

I'll post more pics as I saw some wide stuff and give you my take on the Turbo 7's.

I'm ready for spring.  :)

Congratulations! Glad there no issues on the road trip.  Nice looking machine.

Very nice, I thought WM was putting crank suports on all the new mills now.
I don't see one on your mill.
Maybe 38 horse is not big enough to need one, I don't know. Maybe a new setup.
Best of luck with your new mill.

It does have a crank shaft support. Its cover under a metal shield.

Good luck with your shiny new orange machine! Be good to her, and she'll be good to you! (Old saying). Watch the mail for your official Wood-Mizer owner's card, with that they'll know you ain't just playing around, you mean business! ;)

Good deal! I see it has the engine diagnostic screen on it. I think you'll like that feature.

I know I will. I wish they has something like that on gas engines.

David,

Congratulations. Did you visit with your old mill while you were there?

I'm really interested in a detailed report on how that wide head cuts in a few months. Are you keeping historical records to see what % of the logs need the extra width? (I realize diameter alone is not enough because sweep, knots and other things may make you call on a couple extra inches beyond simple diameter readings.)

Has Kirk's feet touched the ground yet?

Nah.....no records will be kept. However, once I get comfortable with the whole operation of this new mill, I will advertise that I can saw a 34 inch wide live edge slab....and thats 34 inches at its widest point.
My prices are in line with other mills that saw up to 27 inches wide. But now that I can go wider, there will be a price increase for a diameter over 27 inches.....for live edge slabs.

Your debarker looks the same as mine, does the wheel spit the stuff away from the blade or right into it like the old mill?  I liked my lt40 debarker way more than this one.
Boy, back in my day..
