Sorry guys! I haven't been here on the FF in a while. I'm loving the mill. Still in the middle of a black walnut job I hope to finish this Saturday.

At your age (126) I can now understand why you are in such a hurry.

He works for a company that clears right of ways and gets all these logs for free.

Drives me CRAZY!!!  All his logs are different species, but the taper is at least consistent.
He says size doesn't matter as long as its 1 inch over an even number.
He'll air dry and re-saw later.

Well, Today is Tomorrow, Yesterday you know!!!  Pretty sure you were the wise old one who told us whipper snappers to get things done as time passes you by.  Before you know it that mill will be old, worn out, and then you will decide to try a turbo, she won't cut worth a darn and you will blame the band!!   :D

Did he ever say what he does with the cants (not that it matters as long as he pays on time)? Does he resaw them or use them for dunnage/blocking or such? Inquiring minds want to know.

How's the mill running?
Are we going to have to get Jake over there to break it in?

I want to see how the first super wide log turns out, if the mill will eat it.
YellowHammerisms:

Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.
