A simple one log job on a Monday. 18M long, ciustomer has very little idea what he wants. Good thing I brought the truck that day. It is amazing what a super low gear, 4WD and BIG tyres will pull without a fuss.


The result after 8 hours was about 2 cubes of mixed 2*4, 4*4 and 2*6,,plus a couple of slabs.

Good application for a swing mill..except the logs were too small and suspended!

a messmate.."eucalytus obliqua". only a baby one at 500mm dbh. Full size at 2metres diameter

That be about 20" to us and full grown would be 6 1/2'. 18m = 59'. 2 cubes be about 850BF. I think.

just checked back and saw I had missing a response!...still a truck down here. There are more pics in the gallery. Gave the winch system its first trial run on the weekend. Almost as new. It is driven as a PTO off the main gbox. Just put the transfer case in neutral and you have 5 forward winch gears but only 1 in reverse. All works perfectly except the air cylinde that disengages the dog clutch on the winchg had seized and thus no freewheel of the winch. An hour on the bench with WD40(no reaper over here) and a cot of pain and we have the reco air cylinder. Might be refitting with weekend.
