I bruised the top of my foot in Sept. Dropped steel sheet just behind steel toe. Not a big deal. Never broke the skin no broken bones just a bruise. Two weeks after the fact got a bad infection. Almost lost my foot had 3 months antibiotics. Infection caused nerve damage. Went back to work part time 2 weeks ago but now can barely walk. Had 3phase bone scan done last week which showed bone loss due to nerve damage. Seeing a neurologist next week. Never thought I would use the operator seat on my woodmizer but now have no choice. My 11 year old was handling logs and offloading 2x6 8 and 10 footers for me 1300 bd feet Friday and Saturday.  I almost never have visitors but yesterday I had 4 people stop by. 1st was a 17 yr old who just ordered a mill and wanted some instruction. 2nd was a guy who wanted help getting his wm running like mine. Apparently guys patching holes on the road who where watching me mill  told him about my milling. 3rd was a friend who wanted advice on selling an old mill. 4th was the guy I bought logs from he's looking for a mill. So despite all the visiting and being stuck in operator seat I did get my logs milled. I end up on forestry forum a lot because I'm mostly stuck in my chair with foot elevated

Dang, that sucks.  At least you can still do some milling and have a good helper.  I might recommend some boots like we wear at our FEMA Rescue Task Force.  They are Matterhorn boots with steel toe, plus steel jointed armor like plates that cover the whole top of the foot.  I'm not sure it would have prevented your injury, but it may have significantly reduced it.

The photo is of the infection. Two days prior my foot looked fine the bruise was already healed.

I'm starting to think they left wound packing in my foot when they drained the infection. MRI shows something . I might get a few good days but as soon as I start walking around too much pain just gets out of hand. Referred to a specialist 550 miles away. That's the nearest they could find.

Wow, I hope they get that figured out soon. A screwed up foot can sure dampen your normal life style. We went through it with Tammy,, aka Frankenfoot,  and now the daughter of frankenfoot.  Stacy did something highly adult for a 35 yr old. Jumped on the running board of her friend's truck and as it was coming into their driveway, hit a bump and fell off.  To swollen yet for anything, but it aint looking good.
