Probably going to start milling it next weekend.  I have an order for some 1/2 inch random width boards for closet lining.  With the logs I'm going to get tomorrow Ill have enough to complete the order and some left over for something else.

Good logs, spent my first two years sawing on mainly cedar, fun to cut and easy to dry,

Good looking cedar at that size.  A lot I see has rotten areas, carpenter ants etc.  Good find.

That log in the middle of your trailer you should be able to turn into money.

Loaded them over the side with a couple of 4x4s for ramps, a boat winch, and cant hook. ( The hard way)

A couple of these are a little doty in the center,  but for the most part pretty solid. I cut one down on my property line a couple weeks ago that looked healthy, but only had about 2 inches of wood around the outside.  Hollow as a drum for the first 10 feet.

Nice looking lbr. Red Cedar can always be turned into green. Folks love it.

SawyerTed

Great looking lumber !  Ditto on the demand for cedar.  Save the slabs, people love them too!  I like that sawmill.  It looks like more mill than when I looked at Timbery.

I bought this little mill for the purpose of building a barn with timber off my own property.  I wasn't thinking about sawing for other people, but it looks like that plan has changed a little. I'm having trouble finding time to cut logs for myself.
I've been pretty impressed with the way the mill cuts and WM has been more than helpful with any questions I have.
Maybe if all goes well I'll upgrade to something with hydraulics in a year or so. In the meantime I'll keep working this one and learn to be a better sawyer.

I thought so,lol. It just got me reminiscing when I saw your trailer load 4x4's in with the logs, and your salvage explanation. I've done lots that way as well. You see 'em and just can't leave 'em.

Hmm the sawdust bug is strong, 16 posts in and already pondering an upgrade to hydraulics.
Looks like your mill is working well there. :)

What is the massive structure standing behind the mill in the pic...lighting or some type of loading contraption ?

Great find BTW, I would always stop for 3 sticks filling the trailer deck.

It works great in softwood.  The only hardwood I've tried to mill is chestnut oak and the cuts were really wavy. I've ordered some 7° blade from Timbery to see if that makes a difference.

Loading with my Ferguson 35. It's not enough for bigger logs. I'm getting ready to build a log deck in the shed with some utility poles I got last week. Then I should be able to roll logs right onto the mill .
As far as keeping it clean, I load all my slabs on a trailer as I cut and blow all the sawdust and bark out the back with a leaf blower. Seems to work pretty good.
