Title: Looking for info from people with experience with D & L swing blade mill
Post by: sam-tip on February 13, 2018, 08:17:34 PM
As title say trying to find some current info from people who have experience with the D & L 180 degree swing blade mill.  Looking at the SB1020 with optional slabbing attachement.   To mill and slab big tree trunks.  Called Left Coast and said no long carry Petersons.  Baileys is back ordered on Lucas.

You can search the forum, I'm afraid you won't find much. Some times patience pays.

I think I have read most everything on here about them in the last two months.  Most is from a few years back.  Just found a guy on Facebook that got one two years ago.

The only info I can give you is a guy I know who had one and a couple Lucas Mills kept the Lucas. He also preferred the MD he had. The main complaint had to do with the angle of the metal coming off of the head. It cut straight and true though. It really only mattered on big logs, 4 ft+

Called Left Coast and said no long carry Petersons.

Hmm, that must be a very recent development :(

Thanks for all the info.  I ended up ordering a D & L yesterday.  I think I got a good deal on postage.  Ordered SB1020 with 35 hp motor with most of the extras.   Hoping it will be a good fit with a friends Woodmizer.  We should be able to handle almost anything now.

Hey fellows I'm so glad to learn that a few of you, have experience with a D and L sawmill. I've been thinking of getting one for some time now. From my research it looks like it would a good addition to what I have. Any information is much appreciated.
