Title: Lucas mill blade retipping/tensioning in the Southeast?
Post by: Drarnold on March 23, 2018, 10:43:47 AM
I have a Lucas 613 sawmill with 3 blades.  Two of those blades need to be re-tipped and they all could use some re-tensioning as I have begun to see considerable drag when cutting even after sharpening and the correct adjustment to blade orientation.  I called Bailey's and the closest places to get them re-tipped and tensioned were in North Carolina and Virginia according to them.  Does anyone else know of somewhere closer to my location (Mobile, AL) that does a good job re-tipping and tensioning circular saw blades?

Thanks in advance,

They are not closer, but I've been happy with Menominee Saw.  The big brown truck of happiness takes them there and brings them back for me.   ;D

Contact BH Payne in Georgia.   I've used them for retipping Peterson blades, their ship to address was Northport Alabama.  Happy with them.

Thanks for the recommendations.  I think I was looking for B.H. Payne.  I knew their was one in Alabama/Georgia but was not entirely sure.  Will give them a call.  I appreciate it!

Drarnold:

I know a young man who is a saw doc and runs a saw shop in Duncanville, AL just south  of Tuscaloosa, AL. i talked to him today and he said he could do the work you need done. His business is called Tuscaloosa Saw works and his number is 205 361 1411. He also told me that he has a new account in Mobile and is traveling to Mobile about every 2 weeks. Give him a call and you will probably have to leave a message because he is on the road a lot and out of cell coverage area.

RALLF,

Thank you for the contact information.  I contacted the folks over at BH Payne in GA and they referenced me to Capital City Sharpening in Montgomery.  I am usually in Montgomery every couple of weeks and may go with them since I am up that way quite often.  However, I will give your contact a call and see when he might be in the area.

Thanks again,
