Title: Stihl 260 Pro Cylinder ?
Post by: jiggysmb on April 13, 2018, 01:15:14 PM
I have rebuilt quite a few Stihl saws, most have been 260s and 360s and haven't really had any trouble until now. I rebuilt a 260 Pro for a friend and I just couldn't get it to start. Then I realized the stock top cover wouldn't fit back on properly. I see there is a 44.7mm cylinder as well as a 44mm cylinder. I ended up with a 44.7mm cylinder and saw the 44.7 cylinder was for "older" 026.

I read they are interchangeable but I doubt that since the cover doesn't fit. Can anyone help me determine which is the proper cylinder for any 260? Is there a SN cut off or some other visual tell on the saw?

What does the sticker on the handle say the displacement is? Some are 50cc and some are 49 cc

I think the 026's were 44mm. The MS260's were 44.7  . Except the IPL shows some MS260's with 44MM with an asterisk and some odd suffixes to the Model number. Mic what came off of it and see what it was.
