Title: Well
Post by: Bruno of NH on July 28, 2018, 03:24:04 PM
Well the knee is finally done  ;)
They can't help me for a year because of my size.
I wish I could make my mill a hydraulic feed.
I'm not good at that stuff.
I don't think I can swing a new mill right now.
I have some good friends helping me fill orders. That's not going to last for ever.
I got lots to think about in the coming week.
I milled today but barely made it up 3 steps into the house.

Take care of yourself, first.
Do what it takes to take some pressure off that knee.
I know it's difficult to loose weight as I am a big guy too.
But, if you change some eating habits you can do it.

Health issues can send us in a downward spiral.  (Been there and have the t-shirt).  It's like an airplane in an insipid spin.  You have to apply opposite force to overcome the spin.  Opposite rudder and up elevator.  Make a plan to get out of the spin THEN decide how to aviate (pilot).

I encourage you to make this evening better than this morning and tomorrow better than today.  Once things are under control, make a plan with achievable goals to get where you need to be.

You have a lot of people behind you - some you don't even know!

A lesson I was taught a long time ago when overcoming insurmountable odds is the one second rule. It goes as follows.
1) Your entire responsibility and focus is to make it through the next single second.
2) Repeat step 1.

Before long a minute will be behind you, then an hour, a day, a week. When you look back upon the journey you will surprise yourself on what you have achieved.

Best of luck and take care of yourself.

Jim

Maybe we can organize a "Northern Project II" and help you get caught up on some of your orders? For sure, I'll come help. Give the idea some thought, and come up with a rough plan. Maybe we can take it from there.
Take it easy on yourself, and follow your Doctor's advice.

Have your friends help you build a lumber shed.  Then buy lumber wholesale and store it in your shed. When the truck pulls in with the lumber, unload it and set it under cover with machine.  On the weekend when your friends can come help, have them come help you stack the boards in the retail shed.  Then when customers come they can grab and load what they want.  You know you're making money on the stuff cause you're putting a markup on it.

Hate to see you in pain. :(
I've been following your posts and it sounds like things was going good in the sawmill part. Wish that knee was going good as well.

That's not good When I was overweight I cut out all the carbs, No carbs and lb came off.
Did you ever try to make a sandwich with no bread? ::) I had to learn a new way to eat. I like spaghetti but it's all carbs Now I eat spaghetti squash with sauce.
For me, carbs was the key.

I'm with Peter on the no carbs. I lost 125 lbs by dropping them from my diet and rarely have knee pain now.

Hey man sorry to hear about your problems! I realize this is a "woodworking forum", but considering the topic of this one I have to give some personal advice.

So, my wife and I got to be both pretty large individuals. Busy jobs didn't allow for the healthiest eating and we often settled on fast food. Fast forward a couple years and we are larger than ever. We had always been fit people too. Gaining that weight made me borderline diabetic with Type 2 Diabetes and some heart issues. We both had various medical scares, which made us take a "what the heck are we doing?!" moment, you know. Anyways, she started an office job and I wanted us to start a lifestyle change together.

What I found is Keto. Seriously, look in to it. It might not be for you, but it saved our lives. She is down over 130 lbs and is as stunning as the day I met her. I'm down 50 lbs and its night and day difference. Keto is a high fat, moderate protein, and low carb (less than 25g per day). Is it hard? You can bet your bottom it is! But like I said, it saved our life.

Best of luck to you! I hope it works out.

I had success mirroring my wife on Weight Watchers.  I followed the points, cut out soft drinks and sweet tea (a gallon a day), and my snacks became oranges, bananas, and sugar free Jello pudding.  I dropped about 40 pounds and the knees and feet are saying thank you.  It wasn't a hard diet for me to follow.  I ate enough to not feel hungry.  I used the low carb route a few years back and dropped the weight, but put it back on running the roads and eating fast food.  Subway and Food Lion sandwiches have replaced McDonald's and Hardees.  Best of luck to you.

Sugar and carbs.. Your body just isnt designed for the amount of them in every drive thru convenience wrapper, its poison.  Fat isnt the enemy, that passes right thru.  Its sugar that you cant unload.

Quit the soda, switch to water.  Dropping bread is tough, but bacon and cheese and pistachios help.  Spaghetti squash is awesome.

Southbeach is another diet that works great.. Its that first week of carb withdrawal thats hardest, but once you hit ketosis pounds just fall off in your sleep.

Sorry to hear about this knee problem. My neighbor was in the same boat about a year ago. His wife started finding low carb recipes and now it looks like he may not even need surgery. I hope the best for you on this journey. It will pass in time. Brian

I haven't had any sugar In 2 years
Gave up bread then also.
I'm still working but it's tough the worst part is the mental part.
I'm changing some things around hopping to make it till winter.
I got to keep at it so I don't lose what I got going.

Having a tough week.
Not getting around to good.
Had someone cancell an order 3/4 done.
Hit a nice buck in velvet in Newport this morning.
Busted the grill and front of the truck.
On a good note sold 13 slabs this week.
Made a connection with a young gall that does beautiful wood burning.
Going to mill her up some live edge basswood when I have some help.
Trying to stay positive but it hard when I can't move very well :(

Thinking of you down here in Virginia.  Stay focused on getting the weight off so they can get to your knees, the knee surgery is just amazing stuff.  I'd even suggest getting some professional help on the weight loss if that's something you could make happen.

Things didn't get this way all at once and it will take time to get better, keep at it doing what you can without making the knee worse. Try to find ways to ways to keep yourself mobile and relive stress on your knee.

Ideas?

Use your strong points to your advantage, from reading your posts I'm always impressed with your ambition you seem to have the ability to market product and create good customer relations, perhaps you could hire some help with producing the product and free up time to market and sell.

Couldn't do anything this weekend couldn't find any help.
This week I'm trying a new guy for 3 days.
I got folks wanting their mill orders and I'm 6 to 8 cords behind on firewood.
I can split it but I'm not touching a chain saw when you can't move.
Hopefully things work out this week :)
I'm keeping a good outlook.

Thanks for the offer :)
I have a Dr. Appointment Friday at 3:00
I hope to have a plan laid out.
My friend that helped me this weekend is coming back again next weekend he liked it and I think he was glad to have a little jingle in his pocket.
He just got a small house that needs lots of work.
He don't have any money.
I have been giving him some lumber to jump start his repairs.
I don't want any payment for it.
The money he makes milling can go to other material he needs.
Winter is coming.
It's very hard for me to need help.
It's just not my way.

Cut and split some firewood.
I'm 10 cords behind.
I have a Dr's appointment today at 3:00 and Sheila's going to take me :)

I found 2 guys to work at the mill 2 weeks ago.
This week they never showed up.
The orders are piling up fast .
I can't afford a hydraulic mill right now but that's what I need.
If this keeps up I'm going to lose everything thing I have built up the last 4 years.
Had a bunch of things lined up for today and my friend that's helping me son got crushed by a steel beam at work and got hurt real bad.He has to stay home.
I'm thinking at this point I might have to fold up by the end of the month if things don't get better .
I got a good name in the area and don't want to lose it.

Be nice to get some mill together. That way Bruno can feed them with his tractor, move slabs and lumber and run the job. I will bring 2 new boxes of blades for anyone who wants to come and cut. If more come I'll bring more blades.
Jim If you come Maybe you can come here and drive my truck pulling my edger.
I'll have my other truck with the mill.
Come on guys and girls for a day we can make sawdust.
Bruno I know how you are about the help thing, I'm the same way But If I had my back to the wall, I would let you help me.

If we here can get this thing organize, you're going to have to set it up so we can make lumber.

I know exactly how you feel. Stress is a terrible life destroying monster.  It probable does not need to be said " when you can not look  anywhere else look up" ,You will come out of this stronger  than before.

Don't have nor have I ever run a mill, but am real good at learning and driving just about anything.  I am looking to learn and am not afraid of hard work.
If you want someone that can lend a hand lifting boards and maybe get few runs on a mill, I figure this would be a good way to get my feet wet.

Going to look at the woodmizers at Deerfield on the 28th, hoping they have some "fair" deal going on.

I am less than two hours away.  Just  let me know.

This sawing project for Bruno needs much more than moral support.  There will be expenses such as food, refreshments, etc.  My check will go out in the mail today to Bruno (Jim Minard).

Pete, I can't bring my mill as my truck is not inspected and most likely it will not pass and is not road worthy any more. I'm planning on getting another one soon.
I can push Bruno mill and work on sawing up anything they put on the bunks, but I would rather not carry any lumber off of it.
The only way I could bring my mill is to rent a uhaul pickup truck to pull it.
I can do both day, Saturday and Sunday if you wish. It isn't too far a drive my house to Bruno's.
And as I mentioned I can come to your house and drive one truck pulling the edger over and back, as long as it's class C license.

I can probably help however I will need a lift for my mill ('87 lt40hd) to Bruno's. I live 10 or 15 miles away I think.
I can probably walk my Saw head back and forth all day but after a pneumonectomy last winter and chemotherapy after I can't do much more.
With a decent tailgunner me and my mill can spit out a decent amount of lumber.
Helping others makes me feel good. So I'm selfish

I can bring my mill for either the 29th or 30th, but not both. I have a commitment for one day that weekend, but can be flexible as to which day.

Disclaimer: I am not a production sawyer. I use the mill for specialty cutting for my wife's business. Maybe I could team up with someone like Jim who has a similar mill. That way I can help out, supply a mill and learn some new things at the same time.

Let me what day and I can be there with a mill. LT40 HD 26.

If we do the 30th I can probably swing by and grab you and your mill.  I have a sliverado 1500, just let me know what I need for a hitch.  I don't have any experience, but am a quick learner and not afraid of work.  I am not as quick as I used to be, but move pretty good for 51.
I can also bring a couple chainsaws.

Thanks Gagnon mountain. I have to warn you that the mill is not currently registered for over the road use. My town clerk asked if it was a "wood rig" years ago. I said yes and she said it didn't need to be registered. I usually follow in my car to keep inquiring eyes back a ways. In 10 years I haven't had a problem.
The mill is road worthy, I just followed my son 15 miles back from a big job.
Where are you from? I live in Newbury

Beave,

I am in Milton.  I am just under two hours away, so figured 10 or 15 miles from the destination wouldn't make much of a difference.

No worries on the mill.  I have a small trailer I use occasionally for motorcycles, lawn mowers etc.  Although I register it every year, I haven't had the plate on it in over a decade.  Never had a problem.  I also tow my splitter from time to time, never even thought to try to register that!

Looks like the 30th we can get the most mills there.
We need 2 or 3 more mills to go. and all the help we can get. With 2 or 3 people running my edger I think it will keep up with 4+ mills. Maybe  :D :D :D :D

Now I have to find all of my [on the road tools]  :D :D :D

I can't thank you enough  for helping me out.
I'm very grateful.
I split wood by myself yesterday I had a hard time getting into the house.
I crawl up the steps like a bear.
It was a bad day yesterday I found out an uncle I'm very close with has cancer and needs a kidney removed.
Cancer in my family usually doesn't end well ☹
I'm trying to find some help but we have very low unemployment in NH.
My Dr wants me to go on disability and I told her that's not going to happen!

I have a small RV rig for my sleeping if I could park on the site.  I have 15 years+ of experience with a LT40 and a backhoe. Could I be of any help?

Milton is southeastern part of the sate.  Just north of Rochester on the Maine border.  I haven't looked to see which way to go, but send me your address and I will just head straight to you.  I am all set with the hitch.

Everyone:

Do we have a time yet?  I am just under two hours away.

I have no experience with sawmills, but can bring a chainsaw or two, leaf blower, and a somewhat able body.....

Looking forward to a learning a bit from you guys.

Jackie is a planer and organiser ☺
Growing up no shoes in the house no work cloths on the furniture.
My last black lab Max stayed at her house during the day when I worked on jobs he couldn't go to.
She had him trained to stay on the mat and lift his feet so she could wipe them.
Then he could go in the kitchen and lay on his dog bed.😃

Not having any help to mill I have been spending my time doing firewood.
A friend that was a logger and now works for the State highway department comes over after work and blocks up the wood for me.
I put the splitter in front of the pile of blocks and sit on a bench and split all day.i use a pickaroon to help load the blocks. Some of the blocks are 3ft a cross. They are hard to load on the splitter sometimes when you can't lift with your knees. Its keeping me busy and can bring in a little money.
It gives me a lot of time to think when you are splitting wood.

I'm fighting a few things now that make it impossible at times to read my phone or the forum so I am missing a lot. In fact I had to have help having this read and typed for me today. It started with a viscous separation of the eye, then I had an accident helping to move something for my son, his big bar sized league dart board fell into my head, driving it into my neck. This has caused all kinds of issues including eye twitch and ocular migraines and head and neck pain daily. I've kept quiet about it hoping it would go away. Anyhow, I'll be fine. I can do almost anything but see to read and write well. This is about our friend Bruno and all of you fine forum members. Like I said, you all make me proud!

The weather seems to cooperate.  So we gona be there.
It is a 5 1/2 hours drive for me + time at the customs. Cutting in a half by stoping at my son's place . But still a 3 hours drive so we like to sleep at Bruno's place saturday night to be there at the first hour in the morning. Is that is still Ok with  you Bruno ? We are thinking of putting a couple day more  to visit around. We have a camping van RV that blends in the landscape . We are completely autonomous with food sleeping etc. Does anybody have suggestions of nice camping grounds or a nice place for night parking ? We are thinking of the White mountains or beside the sea in the Kennebunk area .
Thank's to Bruno's helping project I am going to take a break of the sawmill here, take a bit of vacation  and have fun. Isn't sawing a question of fun ?

Hi Bruno/Peter-
checking to see what would be easiest for you, if I drop off the mill Saturday late afternoon, or just drive in Sunday early with it.  If Saturday, I could set up when I get there.  Again whatever you prefer, I'm told there is plenty of parking where we're staying.

I'm going to be around Saturday
I just have to make a firewood delivery in the morning somsome time.
It would be nice if you came Saturday to set up your mill.
I need ideas on how to set things up for easy work flow and log and lumber moving.

Please bring some lawn chairs or such to sit in for lunch break.
Remember I have only sawn at my place never mobile .
Or with a Woodmizer mill so or organization and set up I will need help.
I'm pretty much tractor bound.
I have a friend letting me use his skid steer to help us out with material handling.
I don't want to disappoint anyone as this is a very humbling experience for me.

I have some semi dry 1x6 pine and some hemlock
Should I try and cut stickers on my table saw or wait for one of you with the mill.
None of my hired help has showed up this week to help run the mill.
I have had to split firewood  because I can sit on a bench and do it.
It helps keep a little money coming in.

Getting help can be bad, I have a hell of a time. always an hr or two late or no show.
One of the biggest reason for my retool after we get you fixed up. ;D
I will cut your sticking.  ;)
BUT tomorrow I'm going to the Deerfield Fair. A&P sawmill will be close.

When I get my health right
I'm setting up so I don't have to depend on anyone
One of the reason my knees are gone is when I was building I never waited for anyone.
I found a way to get it done my self if I had to start work at 4:00 am and finish at midnight.

What a great day I had!

I picked up Jay (beav) and his lt40 at his house at about 730.  Jay bought his mill new in 1987.  It was really incredible to watch him run that machine, he knows it so well, and you can tell he loves that machine.

Anyway, I spent the day off bearing for Jay with Jims help.  I probably learned more from these two gentlemen today than I would have in a month on my own.  I want to thank both of these guys for sharing their knowledge.

Bruno and his family had a great spread for lunch, and kept the bottled water flowing for everyone.  Bruno spent the day in his tractor moving logs and slabs.  He was one busy boy with 4 lt40's going. I think I need a grapple....

A big thank you to Pete for the blades, what a guy!  Pete supplied blades for everyone.

Thank  you Claude for the book, I foresee a few of these on the homestead in the future!

And thanks everyone else for a great day.  What a wonderful group of people.

Today confirmed to me that I will enjoy my mill. I can't wait til Friday when I get the trailer package and put it all together.  I get to spend the three day weekend making lumber!

Tony

I'm going to inventory it this week and will let everyone know.
It was a sight to see how well everyone worked together.
Dave's lt40 is some nice
Jay's lt40 is a 1987 he's had it since new and it cuts beautiful lumber.
Dennis's and Peter's supers are some fast.
I'm going to have to get better so I can get in the Woodmizer family.
It would have made a great Woodmizer advertisement.

Peter Drouin and Jim Rogers are like older brothers to me.
2nd
If you have not met Oliver and Harriett Durand you should they are the nicest people.
Oliver is one working machine ☺

Curved-wood came from the great white north.
You need to meet Claude and Denise very wonderful folks.
I felt a connection with them because of my Canadian heritage.
If you haven't seen Clause's work you need too.Its something special he gave me a signed book and I couldn't put it down last night. Even though it was written in french.

I sent a picture of all four mills and the edger in action to Melissa at woodmizer  customer service along with a short explanation of what we were doing.  She is passing it along to sales and marketing.

Tony picked up Jay and his mill and with Jim Rogers they sawed some nice pine boards for me.
Chep and Newwoodguy came to work and work they did.You couldn't ask for any better help.
You also need to meet GAB
Dave is a great person too you should ask him to show us some of his wife's wood art it's spectacular .

Some of my thoughts and comments about Sunday at Bruno's.
Many of us met there for the first time and had a few minutes of pleasantries before starting.
Once we got started it was mostly all business.
It was nice working with people that knew how to work and were not afraid of it.
On Dave's mill the bolt head that holds the roller onto the first log stop had a flat blade screwdriver slot not quite centered but not bad.  I asked him to get a wrench and rotate the bolt head 90 degrees so that when I hit it it would then be able to also accept a phillips screwdriver.  He said something about 50,000 comedians out of work and .......
When I was working at one company some of us had to go to team building school.  One instructor said there were no teams at the co.  I wish that the instructors had been there yesterday it would have blown their minds, all these people of different walks of life, most having met for the first time that morning --- "gettin 'er done".
The person or persons that supplied the skidsteer, had a lot to do with things going as well as they did.  The fellow operating the skid steer was a smooth operator and I mean that in a very positive sense.
Between Bruno and the skid steer operator they kept the mills supplied with logs, moved piles of lumber as needed and removed slabs frequently.

I had never operated a mill with simple set that was a learning curve for me.
I had never used the scale on the mill to saw with doing that was another challenge.
Our mill has AccusetII it tells me the blade height right on the display so no need for the scale when sawing.

DaveinNH:
I hope you did not lose your water jug cap on the way home.
I warned you that I had opened it a little so the water would flow out when sawing.

Jim and Shiela (sp):
Thanks for lunch and the waters.

Pic below is what Bruno is talking about. Repairs were made on site with Sheila's tape and my wife Judy's lipstick. We got home fine and I'm not worried about driving it until the new one comes.   Fooled at least 2 officers that I know of,  on the way home last night.

Bruno very sorry you felt bad, but don't you worry about it. It was cracked anyway for abut 15 years. Early this morning, click click click and I've got new left and right ones coming from RockAuto.  They are dirt cheap, less than the cost of a blade which Peter gave me a few extra of that he wouldn't use.  I should have told you the stories about the other dents on my truck most of which happened on sawing jobs.  Each a fond memory.    >:(

ps that dent above the light was there before.  I don't know when my truck went from being a luxury vehicle to a work truck.  Maybe it was when I put some duct tape on a hole in the driver's seat.   :D :D

But by the way, speaking of blades,  if you ever find out what was in that first log, it would be great if you would please let us all know.  :D :D :D :D :D  That is was a 7 turbo.  Right after this I started using Peter's blades.  :D :D :D  Real tough blade that 7 Turbo. :) :) :) :)

I told them at lunch time, that I have been sawing for 24 years and I learned something new that day.
Peter showed me how to run his edger. I never ran one before, and it was great to learn how.
Beav showed me how he checks his logs so that the cut face is perpendicular to the bed rail:

Spent the day at Bruno's yesterday with a bunch of people I had never met before let alone worked with, what an amazing day. To see that many people come together that had for the most part had never worked with one another and produce that much quality work was simply incredible.

Didn't get to talk too much while there but just wanted to share some of my observations of the people that were there.

The terrifictimbers team Dennis and Judy- Dennis knows his mill inside and out. He can certainly bang out some quality slabs in a real hurry. Judy has certainly spent some time tailing that mill and keeps the area around it spotless. Oh yeah and I'm pretty sure they have at least one of everything you might possibly need while milling in their truck  :D :D

Beav, Gagnon Mountain and Jim Rogers- there was a lot of teaching and listening going on around Beavs mill. I heard he bought that new in 87 and the way he ran it you could tell. He had Gagnon mountain busy tailing
but he certainly looked like he was enjoying himself

DaveNH and GAB- When Dave rolled in with his mill I had to put my sunglasses on the thing shined like a new penny  :o. Once they got it set GAB ran it and he tailed his own mill while trying to better his knowledge of milling. Those two put out a variety of material from live edge hardwood to framing material. GAB settled into a different mill than his own quite nicely.

PeterDrouin-All I'll say is it certainly wasn't his first day cutting pine boards. If he figures out how to run that mill much faster I'd be concerned about him giving himself whiplash going back and forth  :D :D
The man has a system and can produce quality lumber fast!!

Oliver05626,Chep,CurvedWood,and Rob(78NHTFY)?- incredibly hardworking guys that do it with a smile on their face. They are absolutely not afraid to jump in and do what needs to be done to keep things moving

Bruno and Sheila- very grateful and appreciative people for sure, was nice to be a part of helping them out. I very much enjoyed talking with them.

It was a great Day!

Bruno you may have mill envy, but I have a serious case of tractor envy. That is a really nice rig you have.

GAB (Jim) I really learned a lot working with you, thank for the lessons. Hope this 60 year old whose knees are no longer OEM did not slow you down too much.

Peter, thanks for everything you did, not the least of which was supplying the blades.

And last of all I really enjoyed meeting everyone!

Dave:
As I said earlier learning to operate your mill was definitely a challenge at first as it was my first time with simple set and my first time using the blade height scale on the mill, and also the first time operating a mill with a gas engine,  necessating that I slow down.  Our mill has the 34HP diesel.
Your knees may not be OEM but I have 4 stents and an implanted defibrulator.
Sounds like between the two of us novices- you 60 and me 60 - 10  that we have a 130 years of experience.
60 - 10 is Pete from Bear Swamp style math.
Once the mills started up the visiting decreased considerably and the learning started in earnest in many different areas.  The only regret that I have is I wish I had been able to watch the others some, however we were there to get the job done and we work hard at it.

Really cool to be a part of a community as amazing as the forum. I told a couple friends about it and they were pretty floored at the love and good times that can be shared by folks in all different corners.
I really enjoyed meeting and working with everyone. Such a fluid mass of machines and logs and lumber and slabs I have never seen in someone's dooryard.
Big shout out to Josh running that skid steer. He really made the day. A great operator.
Hope to see y'all again down the line.

And to Bruno. Keep your head high and take care of yourself! You have a great place, a great buisness, a great partner and the best group of friends you could ever ask for!!!

Oh WOW, what a day!  Four LT 40's going full tilt for 8 hours plus.  And the FF members & friends of Bruno worked together like a well-oiled machine!  The payment was that great feeling of helping a friend in need, something that money can't buy.
I started the day at 7 am off-bearing at Dave's mill (shiny new with 50 hrs, left with 58 hrs) and with Dave (hey, how come I kept getting the heavy end of those off-cuts Dave? :D :D) and with GAB running a mill like this for the first time (my advice for measuring cutting 2 x's on simple set was got to 2"-4"-6"-plus a bunch of 1/8's--that really helped right ?;D).  Jim Rogers came by and stuck name tags (duct tape/black sharpie) on us all so we'd know who was who :).  We cut poplar and more than a few spruce.  The 2" slab live edge were stacked on pallets and removed JIT by Josh who ran the old skid-steer like a veteran; Bruno with his tractor+grapple (which was the envy of many of us) dropped off the logs with cutting instructions and removed the off-cuts with perfect timing, no mean feat with 4 mills running at once!! There was never any real slow-down.  After a few hours, Claude(Curvedwood) came by and we switched places with me now tailing at Dennis' mill (Terrifictimbersllc), alongside Chep.  Started off hitting metal (5 different logs while I worked there) but Dennis never flinched and had a new saw blade and was sawing before I could get more than a few gulp of water.  As an 0n-the-Road Sawyer, he's got a nice even temperament to handle those kind of challenges (made easier by the FF supplying blades! ;)).  When Chep switched to Peter's mill, I worked with Bruno's friend Brenden who took time away from bear hunting to help(and who's red hunting shirt front was so caked with pine pitch he would'a stuck to anything he touched 8)).  When he left, I worked with Dave's wife Judy off-loading and stickering stack after stack of 4 - 6' x 2" live edge WP for benches (Bruno I think you've got the Northeast covered in benches for awhile! ;D)  By the day's end Judy was still smiling and cleaning up the site.  I wandered off to tail for a bit at Peter's mill where he was whipping off 16' x 1" WP boards faster than you can say OFFLOAD!  I then did some edging work with Peter feeding him slabs, include some 1 1/2" x 19" x 8' oak boards to be trimmed down to 15", boards that GAB had cut earlier on Dave's mill.
We didn't get much chance to talk or get acquainted except between bites during the great lunch Sheila put together for us.  Did learn from Beav that he had brought a drone (he has two!) and would be filming the event.  Also, Claude gave several of us a copy of his book on curved wood which worked out great since it's in French and je parle Francais.
Bruno, one last thing: be sure to cover all those stacks before they get wet and sticker stained....
This was a terrific day, great experience and one that all FF members should feel happy about.  All the best, Rob.

Incorrect earlier post: learned that Peter was the one who bought/delivered the blades, not FF--thanks to Surfin'Safari Peter :D :D!  Terrifictimbersllc certainly appreciated it after hitting his 5th piece of metal :o.
Those drone shots are impressive--BigBrother, er, Big Beav was watching   ;).  All the best, Rob.

Didn't you read the credits at the end? Jay (Beav) who is talking to Bruno when he's waving to the drone did the videos, but doesn't have internet connection at his house. He mailed me a jump drive with the photos and videos in it so I could put it on the web.

Good news on the weight!  It is a process and one step at a time.  Sorry about the pain and I hope you can manage it successfully.  You do have lots of folks supporting and cheering for you!

Glad the sawing day products are selling.  That's what we all want!
