RE: BMP REVISION JUNE 2018

In case the news passed you by, as it did me, the revised Michigan BMPs for soil and water quality have been posted on the DNR website.  A 69-page manual (PDF).

Forestry Best Management Practices guide reprinted
(https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/MIDNR/2023/07/7984882/forestry-bmp-cover-350_original.jpg)The DNR is reprinting copies of the Forestry BMP guide titled "Michigan Forestry Best Management Practices for Soil and Water Quality" with some small updates.
If you have a 2018 print copy of the Best Management Practices, hang on to it – management guidance is still accurate. The latest edition of the guide corrects broken web links, updates state administration data and changes references to the Department of Environmental Quality to the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
Limited numbers of hard copies will be available at upcoming SFI® logger trainings and Society of American Foresters meetings. They are also available by contacting Margaret Spagnuolo (spagnuolom2@michigan.gov) or Mike Smalligan (smalliganm@michigan.gov).
