Title: Hydraulic oil
Post by: loggerman1959 on August 09, 2018, 06:26:09 PM
I just purchased a 1987 Hood loader , model 20000 , was wondering what weight hydraulic oil is recommended for it . I've been searching other sites , but can't seem to find out what's recommended . Any help would be appreciated .

Around here with blistering heat and mild winters Aw68 would be my choice on a gear pump knuckle boom. Aw46 or 32 would be considered related to ambient temperature.

I'll second what Kiko said.

Also, if you call Hood, you should get a real live person. In my experience said person will be friendly and helpful. Good folks up there. The number is on their website.

If you are going to use it year around . You will need to thin it for winter . DO NOT LET THE TEMP GET OVER 150 . ISO oil degrades fast over 150 . 46 in summer drain and fill with 32 for winter . you will only get rid of about half when you drain the tank .
