What is the preferred big slab mill?
Easy to setup and use?
What do you mean by a big slab?
I think you need to provide more specifics. Aside from how big how much do you wan to spend?
Yeah... Best.....
Cut Size?
Cost?
Portability?
Speed?
Get different answers depending on your criteria.
Woodmizer make a big "headrig" that will slab up big logs a treat. Great machine, but it's neither cheap nor portable.
Lucas make a portable chainsaw slabber that can cut ~9ft wide. Not as fast as the WM, and a bit more kerf loss. Cheaper, more capacity, and more portable.
Most of the swing blade mills have very portable slabber options that clip on their regular mills for slabbing 5-6' dia logs. So you can have a machine that can cut boards OR slabs from oversize logs, AND can be carried on a pickup.
A bit more info about what YOU need to don will help narrow down what's best for YOU....
Preferred? I would prefer the WM1000.
Prefer is 100% subjective.....
Matt Cremona on youtube.
That mill is painful to watch. Feed rate of inches per minute. :D

Neah too slow.
Too slow compared to what other mill that can cut a five ton log that's 67" wide?
Yoshihiro Sasada's mill cuts pretty quick and real big.
