Title: Stihl serial number mashup
Post by: Kreadon on February 15, 2019, 11:36:22 PM
how many have come across a mix and match saw? i ask because i just picked up an 038av however the serial number on the crankcase begins with 1113 (making it an 030,031,032)but the part number on the clutch cover starts with 91119(making it an 038 ).

it doesnt look like an 030,031 or 032 not even close, it looks like an 038. thought i had a handle on this serial number thing.

my 028 has been my goto for just about everything for the past 15 years. but i needed something with just a tad more reach and grunt so i picked this one up for $100.00 replaced muffler with dual port dialed in the carb fires on second pull and happily chews through anything (just like the 028 ). a little heavy for the displacement but not enough to bother me. so far seems like a good 115.00 investment but ill give it a few months before i put it in the "old reliable" category.
