I have a older Prentiss Model 110 with the rack and pinion style swing....
It has started to skip teeth on the rack and pinion....
what is the most common. Would it be wear on the rack and pinion or main bearing wear in the frame..
Would I have to replace rack and pinion or could it shimmed out in some manner ???
I had one years ago and I took the rack and welded the teeth up to there original height and the pinion wasn't much wear on it and it worked fine and years later I sold it to a veneer company
Surprised you cannot look at the rack and pinion and tell. If the bearings the whole swing [with the seat] would be loose. Hubler Bros. in Pa. may have the parts. I think the gear is shrunk on.
