Whats up fellow wood ticks, just bought my first mill a woodmizer lt15 with a 17hp diesel on it new from woodmizer.I am excited to start producing my own lumber off of my 95 acres.First project will be sawing up some hand hewn beams from a late 1800s barn.I will be using some of it for trim in my new house.
One of the things i have to get figured out is do i build a dedicated trailer for the mill or make it so i can set it up on my 40 ft gooseneck?Mill will not be moved a lot but will make a few trips to our property on drummond island in mi 240 miles one way.If i set it up on the trailer i can fit my kubota on with it.If the mill is on its own trailer it would have to be loaded on and off the gooseneck or make 2 trips, not what i want to do ferry rides are $.Whats your opinion?
Put it on a trailer makes clean up time easy there will be a lot of junk fall under it.
If you do a lot of sawing in one spot in two weeks there will be a mess under it
You will not want to use it while on the goose-neck. Consider putting it on a strong base that could skidded onto and off the trailer. (I am assuming a winch is available on your goose-neck trailer).
