Title: State or Federal Grants for Re-forestation - in Michigan?
Post by: biglake on February 25, 2005, 08:47:40 PM
Planning to convert 7 acres of Jack Pine and 12 acres of Scotch pine, all to Red Pine. Work part time for a small - poor (aren't they all) Municipality in Michigan, and wondering if anyone has had any experience along this line with getting Grants from the MDNR or other Governmental Units.

Check with the local Conservation District Forester or Michigan DNR Service Forester, or a professional consulting forester assigned to your county. You will need to have a Private Landowner Forest Stewardship Plan completed for your property first to qualify for any grants though.

A grant may be provided to get the plan completed as the first order of business.
