I own a Husqvarna 254XPG - a great little saw. I have an 18" bar on it that is worn. I purchased a new bar, Cannon brand, also 18". The chain requirement is a .375/.058/77DL. Everyplace I look or call says that the specs are wrong and it *has* to be 72DL. BUT the bar says 77. I also want a low-kickback ANSI chain, not a pro-chain.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction for a quality chain? Cannon says they can't recommend one. Oregon said that I can have a loop made, but all I can find are the pro-chains and I do want a "green/safety" chain on this saw.

Welcome aboard! If the bar says 77dl then that is what you go with. Oregon bars, the most common on Husqvarna, are 72 dl. As far as chain goes, there are lots of choices. Oregon 21LPX is a good choice as is Stihl 25RS, they both are low kick back. Try several brands to see what you like.
Cannon does not make chain so does not endorse any brands. Are you buying pre made loops locally? Go with the best price and availability.
I went to Cannons web site they make a .325 .058 77dl that fits your saw. If it was .375 it would be 68dl according to them.
Oregon 21LPX PowerCut .325" Saw Chain, .058" Gauge (https://americanforestry.com/oregon-21lpx-powercut-325-saw-chain-058-gauge) they say they sell it in 77dl but they are out of stock. You may be able to find a local saw shop that can make you loops. Take that saw and bar with you when you go....also make sure your saw and bar both run the same pitch chain.
Something ain't right......I have a 254xp, with a 3/8 pitch total bar, the chain is 68 drive links.
77 sounds like a .325 pitch bar.
A 20" bar on a 372 or 046, 066 takes 72 drivers for 3/8 pitch.
