Title: compression gauge
Post by: tlbrooks on August 22, 2019, 06:21:54 PM

is their  a decent compression gauge made for small engines that someone could recommend. I wont use it much so I didn't want to tie up a lot in it. would the harbor freights work?

google compression gauge amazon and you will see several choices under $20 that would work for you, note the thread size of the thread adapter you need.  I made my own once breaking the porcelain off a spark plug and welding a fitting on to fit a pressure gauge I had.

I have read the Schrader valve was in the wrong place for small engines on some but theirs  limited information from the manufacture on most of them.

Schrader valve needs to be in the end that screws into the cyl., also another valve near the gauge to dump the pressure.
 I first bought a $29 one, but wasn't happy till I got a $90 one.
