The SimpleSet membrane switch for activating the the automatic down function has tanked. It started intermittently malfunctioning and has finally quit. All other functions work just no setting the auto down function. All LED indicators display as per the manual.
There's not much information on replacing this item. It is an adhesive backed sealed vinyl "decal" with a ribbon cable to the control module.
Has anyone replaced this item?
I've ordered it. At $14 it is inexpensive enough.
Check with @Ga Mtn Man (http://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=18750) and @MartyParsons (http://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=1823) I suspect either can tell you everything you need to know.
Thanks for tagging them.
If it is the same thing I am thinking mine got moisture in it shortly after I got my mill and WM sent me one under warranty with a simple instruction sheet in the box and it was a piece of cake to replace. Seems like mine was the little unit with metallic buttons you push to switch from auto to manual on the SS. Seems like it was a simple plug in and and a wire nut or two. It really was easy to fix. I've put probably 550 hours on my mill since then with no repeat problems with it. Seems like unscrewing the 6 cover screws was almost the hardest part of the repair. :D
WV, that's the way it looks to me. Basically an unplug the old, plug in the new, stick the thing in place and saw.
Mine is Setworks but the procedure should be the same: LINK (http://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=44705.msg643450#msg643450)
Thank you for the responses. In case someone else needs to know here's what I learned. It piggybacks on @Magicman (http://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=10011) previous post on updating his panel. This was a warranty part btw.
Replacing the membrane switch panel is simple. Peel the old off. Open the control box - 6 self tapping Phillips head screws. Unplug the ribbon cable. Plug the new panel in. Peel the adhesive backing - just remember to leave the little piece under the ribbon cable. If you don't the cable will stick to the back of the panel and won't line up with the slot.
Apply the new panel only after making sure the surface is clean. I wiped mine with alcohol and a microfiber cloth.

Here is the new part.

A little out of focus but this is the ribbon cable attached to the simple set control board. It just unplugs and plugs back in.

My finger is pointing to the area you need to leave a small piece of backing on or the ribbon cable sticks to the back of the panel. The old part is pictured here, thus all the sawdust and dirt.
