Title: Farmi Winch 306?
Post by: rweiss1110 on February 27, 2020, 01:13:47 PM
I have I believe to be a Farmi 306 winch and I'm looking for an owners/maintenance manual. I'm sure it needs grease or oil but where. also can anyone venture a guess what the J wire coming out the top of the winch cover is? I bought this rig used for $300.00, it was sitting in this guys hayloft for over 20 years he said since he used it. I have gone out in the woods and it hauls logs, just moans & groan alot.

Farmi Winches (https://www.northeastimplement.com/farmi-winches)
These folks should be able to help.
I moan and groan a lot too, after a day in the woods. After all 20 years in the hay loft was  pretty soft.

I have no idea where the top of the winch cover is or the J wire. I doubt I could help, but would like to know. Maybe others too?

I don't know about that vintage but the newer Farmi winches only require a little light oil on the control rope pulleys, brake latch lever, and eccentric clutch engagement rings. All the bearings are sealed. They have a warning about over oiling as it can migrate to the clutch and it says specifically not to oil or grease the no oil gear chain for that reason. I would oil the obvious places. On mine I grease the cable pulley surfaces where they swing too. They screech if I don't.

You got a real good deal !! Today I saw a Igland 4501 in good shape for $1500 on VT CL and thought that would make a good deal for someone but yours beats that.

Thanks all, I reached out to northeast implement (mcsackett@northeastimplement.com) and they sent me a pdf  on my rig. And let me say it answered all my questions, and some I didn't even know to ask. So lets pull some logs!
