Title: Woodmizer lt15 or woodland mills hm126
Post by: Earthmover2017 on April 10, 2020, 03:13:28 AM
Hi guys new to the forum. I'm sure it's been asked before in the market for a small manual sawmill for woodworking and use on the farm. Narrowed it down to these two. Pros and cons of each opinions appreciated. No need for hydraulics due to owning a skid steer I do dirt work on the side. Also could someone recommend a moisture meter and good book to Identify tree species midwest region. Thanks in advance

Woodmizer has legendary support and resale value and would be my choice between the two. I have owned 4 WMs; but I would be looking real hard at EZ Boardwalk if I was a midwestern guy needing a manual mill for around the farm.

Cant speak on the hm126 but i do have the lt15 with twin cylinder 19hp. We bought it new and its been for just for our use. We got the power feed with it and have no regrets at all. Its a very well built mill with great support from woodmizer and we have cut a lot of wood the past 4 years. WM now has the lx55 which looks about the same as the hm126 or the lt15 start which is alittle bigger cut with 14hp. I say buy the most mill you can afford, of course more hp = faster cut. Good luck on the mill and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the Forestry Forum.

I've got the HM126 and have been quite happy with it and the company.

There are quite a few people on here with the HM126, the LT15, and the EZ Boardwalk and everybody is quite happy with their mills.  No real easy answer unfortunately.  If only someone owned all three and really had a chance to compare the experiences!

Like mentioned above, get the most HP you can afford.  HP is king, all other things being equal.

Good luck with your purchase and your upcoming sawdust addiction.

Never a problem with woodmizer and it has always been able to handle anything I threw at it or dropped on it. I got the Lt 15 start and added an extra bed section, 14 hp engine has never failed me or been underpowered on anything I have cut yet, I take that back It had a hard time when I started cutting a log stop in two, but next time I just need to add a metal cutting blade  :D

I was considering a new woodland mills 130 maxx when I came across a used woodmizer with power feed and extra track for the same money!!!  I went with the used Woodmizer because the frame system you mill on is way heavier duty and they have exellent support.  I thought hard on this and watched every video online I could find between Woodmizer, Woodland Mills, Norwood and Frontier.

Woodland mills has the best videos available from the company that are very helpful showing you the differences between theyre mills.  they even show you all mills cutting at the same time to help you decide on which one fits your speed needs and stuff.

after close consideration though I am very happy with the power feed, extra track and mill overall.  I really wanted new but wanted a more well known mill built a little heavier.  the bigger frame will also allow you to add things like I did on my thread (looking at 7 year old woodmizer LT15)

good luck.. they are all capable from what I found online, just comes down you!
