I recieved a very sad notice this morning. Ill copy it as I recieved it from kevin Corder.
Don Laskowski, founder of Wood-Mizer, passed away last night. He was 89, fell a few days ago and ended up with a brain bleed and never recovered. He did a lot to change the landscape of sawmilling and pretty much created the personal sawmill industry.
It is sad but he had a long and very productive life. We should all be so fortunate.
What a legacy! May he Rest In Peace and May his family be comforted.
Quite a legacy, I think we could all hope to live our lives as well.
Condolences to the family and RIP Don.
Definitely left behind an amazing legacy, condolences to his family.
May he rest in peace. Though the lasting greater impact of Don Laskowski's work will live on. According to their website Wood-Mizer portable sawmills have been sold in 120 countries, actively growing local economies, creating jobs, and improving living standards around the world.
An amazing legacy,
My thoughts and prayers are with the Laskowski family.
D
A lot of people like me own a piece of his visionary legacy. RIP
Condolences to the Laskowski family. A big thankyou to the man who made a machine that completely changed our family's lives forever. Many years ago, I remember meeting Don at a seminar he gave on adding value by using a vacuum kiln. Made a big change in how I thought about the work we did.
And may his legacy live on in the good work of the company he created.
Praying for the Laskowski Family.
Don Laskowski and Dan Tekulve's invention made the portable sawmill industry into what it is today. Their foresight also put the "LT" in their sawmill's designation. Several years ago the decision was made for Wood-Mizer's ownership to be employee owned (ESOP) which insured that their product and service would always be personal because each employee is a partial owner. Their LT40 changed my life and helped me to develop my future into what it is now.
My condolences not only go out to the Laskowski family during this time, but to the entire Wood-Mizer family.
Yes Magicman, the "L" has joined the "T" in the great hereafter! God Bless!
