Title: FIRST TIMEER HERE
Post by: handhewn on September 30, 2020, 09:40:42 PM
I'm getting my sawmill back to operable after 25 years sitting. Was looking on net and saw this site. Just what I need as I have questions you guys could answer. I ran it for a living for many years but almost killed myself (my mistake) and was back in school by noon that day. Scared me bad and with a two week old baby at home. Only ran it once in this last 25 years. I miss sawing. Lots of dead trees here (calif) with fires and beetles. Also been building large cabin in the wilderness with trees I milled way back and using wood misers and mobile dimension saws also. Been building the cabin 40 years and just now got it legal. I'll send pictures later. I really like this site, nice to meet you guys. I forgot to mention my saw is a 60" circular with a GM 671 eng. , live deck,3 blade edger 3 head carriage, cuts to 24"  etc.

Welcome!  Sorry for your near miss, rather glad it was a near miss and sorry it happened.  Glad you are getting back in the saddle again.

Little town called Cohasset up in the foothills above Chico. Still some big timber here and lots of Black Walnut. I used to saw all the black walnut for wineland walnut who was the largest producer of walnut in the US at that time some 25 years ago Sure miss cutting walnut. There is a 60" circular saw running just north of you in Yuba city at Unity Lumber.
