Title: echo 450p
Post by: bedway on October 19, 2020, 06:57:13 PM
Hi guys and gals, I have a cs450p echo saw. The saw is not new but doesn't have a lot of hours on it. Used lightly and well cared for. Has always started and ran well. Was using it last week and shut it off to load some firewood. Couple days later needed to use it. Topped off fuel, oil, and pumped the primer bulb. Put the ignition switch on and pulled bout 10 times. It usually starts on the first or second pull. Pulled the plug and checked, no spark. Took the ignition switch out of the loop and still no spark. Ignition module not putting out any spark. I ordered a new module from across the pond which took a month to get. Installed it, set the air gap and got spark, cool beans. Took it outside pulled and pulled no start. New plug, starter fluid, yada, yada and it wont even cough. Help please.

Pull the muffler off and check for a scored piston.  Steve

Echo coil or aftermarket? I bought a replacement coil on eBay for an echo saw. Installed it and had same problem, spark but no run. I finally checked the timing with a light and it was firing about 20 degrees after TDC instead of prior.  flywheel key was not sheared. Purchased a used Echo coil from a junker saw and it worked.
