Heard the news this morning. We deal with both, OSB in Jefferson and sawmills in Henderson and New Boston. Not sure if we see any big effect. Norbord does have contract crews that make it difficult to buy plantations near the mill plus they control enough wood flow that makes gatewood deliveries unstable
4 billion bucks :o Those kind of numbers are hard to wrap my head around. West Fraser is quite a success story, they already have numerous U.S. holdings as well as being one of the largest players in western Canada. Interestingly Jimmy Pattison, a car dealer from Vancouver, owns 13% the largest individual shareholder as well as 51% of Canfor, a huge competitor. He tried to merge the two but was turned down by the shareholders
Norbord is the last OSB sheet mill in our market, I sure hope this doesn't cause any ripples there because we don't need it.
