Title: 117 not going
Post by: chubbus on January 04, 2021, 11:26:41 AM
Hi all.
I have just been given a 117 that someone had but was not running.
I have given it a check over and found , = good spark on plug, good compresion , but does not want to fire up as normal, if i dump some fuel down plug hole replace plug and pull it fires up but wont keep running.
Anyone have any ideas what to try next please ????????????

What I'd recommend is replacing the carb kit. Super inexpensive to do, and that's probably your issue. If not, let us know. 9 times out of 10 that's the issue

P.S. Welcome to the Forum!

Check the pick up line and filter in the tank as well. Don't know how old that saw is but the lines can deteriorate and fail in there. Filter gums up too.

Fuel line, vent line(check vent operation too), fuel filter, carb completely cleaned and installation of new carb kit. If you know you have good spark and compression like you said........

You got spark, compression and continuous metered fuel, you got fire!

Yep! A three legged stool. That's what it takes for all spark engines to run.
