Has anyone seen the older 2wd tractor that was converted to a forwarder by removing the front axle and permanently attaching a pivoting trailer and log loader behind it? I remember seeing a picture a few years ago, but can't find any information on it now.
That's how the first Gafner Iron Mules were made.
yes 30 or so yrs ago made in canada used a 580 case
Rottne Blondin as well. Used a Ford tractor with a upgraded clutch. The pto powered the bogie wheels.
Poland and various scandinavian countries have tons of homemade tractor forwarders, youtube has many vids. Though obsolete today the old timers show them like we do steam powered stuff at shows
Thanks for the info. I'd seen one homemade one a few years ago, but didn't realize they were so prevalent as early forwarders
