Title: Information on grading logs and lumber.
Post by: Camp Run Farm on April 03, 2005, 11:43:21 AM
I am looking for information about grading logs and sawn lumber.  I was wondering if anyone had the names of a few good books or if there is some information available from an agency, university. etc.  It would be nice if Penn State University had something pertaining to forestry that could be taken as a noncredit evening course.  Some of the evening courses offered seem to be for as the University calls them  "mature adults", example, Getting the most out of your cell phone.   Now there is a course worth taking!!!  Anyway if anyone has any information I would appreciate it .  Thanks   Ed

See the Lumber Grading Short Short Course in PA Thread below. Some such courses are usually held. Ron W. maybe can provide more information on thoseĀ  held at Penn State.

Camp......
Maybe contact the Forestry school at Penn State.
One site is:

http://woodpro.cas.psu.edu/

I'd suggest trying to find someone to talk to, in person.

Also, there is a log grading course coming up this week, by the calendar on this site:
