You guys may already know this but I just learned this week. Two framing squares and a set of stair gauges makes a handy tennon checker. We all have two framing squares at least and a set of stair gauges is under $5. This is a 18 foot white oak 8 by 12 tie for the bottom of a king post truss. It must go together! I am used to furniture building and wanting tennons to fit tight, and it causes me all sorts of headaches assembling bents. This is method of checking tennons is a handy help. When Jim gets his tennon checker in stock again I will buy one but this works pretty good too. I didn't think I needed a big al square until I had one and now I wouldn't be without, so I will buy a tennon checker .

Nice tip. Will try this. Thanks
