Title: Drying schedule for ash 6x6 below 20 percent mc
Post by: forrestM on August 06, 2021, 08:41:32 PM
How would you approach kiln drying ash 6x6 posts that have been air dried to below 20 percent mc? From other posts on the forum, it seems some people do kd and some don't.
If you have, what kind of schedule did you use? Or is it just a matter of sterilization at that point? It's for a customer, so it's not the end of my world if I have to tell them no. Just curious if it is possible / advisable.

I have a nyle l200m.

I would start a bit on the conservative side at first, say 95 DB, 85 WB and see what happens.  My expectation would be nothing, then bump up the DB probably 10 degrees at a time until I was at 120 / 85, if still nothing is happening - which is likely the case - drop the WB to 75 and giver her her head.  Finish with a HT cycle of 160 / 75 / 3.

You don't need to change the wet bulb setting on the L200S or L200M, just switch the compressor off.
