Title: NZ tree ID
Post by: JoshNZ on February 13, 2022, 04:12:41 AM
I've got no idea where to start with this one, haven't seen it before. Had a nasty wind storm come through early this morning and have trees down all over the place.

I don't even know if it's native NZ or exotic.

Thanks!

Are there any chestnuts on the ground under it?

Not that I recall but I wasn't paying close attention. Snapped the photo on my way past driving. Good guess I see why you'd ask, looking at the leaf shape. I'll have another look

Yep, I'd go with that I think you're right again Ian. Cool, will grab it and see how it saws.

Never used it, but from what I can see it's a useful medium density hardwood. Can be used for furniture etc.  :)

I'll post a photo if I end up with it. I read the logs are quite often hollow
