Title: Pitch on top of blade only
Post by: Patrick NC on May 24, 2022, 06:59:31 PM
How come pitch only sticks to the top of the blade and the bottom is clean? Is it because sawdust gets compressed between the bandwheels and the blade, or is there another reason?

Yup, it gets smashed between the blade and bandwheels.

I have never seen buildup on the bottom of a blade which led me to close the opening on the lower LubeMizer nozzle several years ago.

Maybe sap gets squeezed out of the wood (sawdust) and spread out onto the blade.

My theory is the pitch flakes/peels off the outside as the band flexes.

Maybe it's like a tire is only flat on the bottom?
Sorry, Howard's devil paid me a visit, too.
