Im in the u.p., and sawyer is in harrison. He disapeared last night. He has a seizure disorder and has missed one round of meds this morning. I am lost and crushed. The neighborhood at home is looking. I dont know what to do.
Your requests are about the best you can do. Prayers sent.
Prayers for his return and no seizures . Had the same thing a few years back with my dog. left the gate open and a bowl of food and of water. He was laying next to it the next morning wagging his tail.
This is a heartbreaker and I am so very sorry to read this. Sending good vibes and praying this turns out OK.
I have no idea what you can do from three hours away. Have you called the local animal control to let them know?
I just checked and there is a FB page for lost pets in your area. Putting a photo up with contact info couldn't hurt. It works around here quite a bit.

Im so lost. :'(
Prayers sent.
Have faith that Sawyer will be okay and be home soon.
My heart goes out to you! Don't loose hope and stay positive. Do everything in your power to find him 🙏
Put out any of his beds, your well worn jackets that smell like you, etc in places he could get to on your property or a neighbor if they are friendly. Dogs memory is very smell based so finding something like that will often get them to sit tight. I have had success doing this with dogs that were spotted several miles from home. If you get a legitimate sighting somewhere else, move a "bait" jacket or bed there and keep an eye out.
I even had to leave a vehicle door open a couple miles from home on a dog that got completely spooked. He would go to the bait bed but would not let me approach him. Parked the vehicle there and an hour later he was sitting in the truck. Even then I had to sneak up and shut the door but after about 2 seconds of talking to him he came around and was all excited to see me.
Praying that he shows up quickly!
Have somebody get the word out to the neighbors and anybody around with your name and number on a flyer asap. And your voice would be good but somebody else he is familiar with calling for him driving around would be a good thing
Not a good thing to hear.
I hope all works out well.
If he knows the sound of your vehicles, one of ours became deathly afraid of storms and we were gone when one hit, he took off. I double drove the roads in his truck, slowly up and back and there he was on my return trip down one of them, several miles from home, he had run till he could barely walk. I sure hope you find him.

You are in our thoughts. Our Shihtzu dog Griffin, is nearly blind. he wandered down the street and was on FB at the pound. neighbors called to ask if that was him. got him back the next morning. understanding his disability, they waived the fine, but added a chip. He fell in the pool on Sunday. he can swim but cannot find the steps and would have been in trouble had we not seen him right away. He may have wandered in a post-ictal state, and should find his way home, or get a call from a good Samaritan.
My hopes and best wishes for a speedy and safe return.
Hes found, dont know the details yet but kids and tammy are going to get him 2 counties away at sherriff department. He was stolen and had a sisure, i know it. I bet on it
Just like that- the prayers (and presumably some vigilance) worked! Great news Jeff!
Glad that I was checking in!!!!!!!!!! 8) :) :) :) :)
Great news. Glad he is found.
Godspeed!
Very glad/happy to hear he's returning home. Don't know what I'd do without Boone
Glad all is well, we've been in them shoes too.
He was dumped by the thieves along the road when he had a seisure. He was found by the sherriff seizing. If I find out who did it, ill go to jail.
Must have cut his collar off then. Glad he is found.

Just saw this thread and so happy that your best friend is back home with you! I am in your same camp, mess with my family or dog and you better have good health insurance because I'm coming for you😡
you might go to a pharmacy and get a med alert tag to add to his collar so if lost or God forbid stolen people/thieves/animal control will know. does he have a chip? @Nebraska (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=45256)
Thank the Lord and thank the sheriff. smiley_thumbsup
I've seen them on collars or custom collars with words embroidered on them. An ear tag marker for livestock tags on a collar is how my phone number and name is on my labs collar.
I hope the missing his meds and the seizure can be delt with ok.

You mess with a fine animal like that of mine and that health insurance ain't gonna do you no good.
Jeff I am so sorry this happened to you guys, you have no idea how upsetting this is to me. It just sucks. How did the Sheriffs dept. figure out it was your dog? That was great work.
The missaukee county sheriff found him throwed out along m55 between houghton lake and merit mi. Someone took him, and he used his super powers to get back to us. Sawyer's seizures are his super powers. This is why they tossed him. He was seizing when the deputy found him. How they got him is a mystery. Jeremy saw him at 2:30am, and he was gone at 4am when Tammy got up.
Glad he's back home!!!!❤️❤️

Absolutely!!!!!
Glad he is home !
Thanks everyone. Ya'll know how I feel about this dog. I was devastated.
Two county's away? Jeff as a dog man myself I am real happy hes back.
This is bizarre. Do you think that someone took him and road tripped him two counties over and dumped him to get back at you for something or to spite you? Something smells rotten in Denmark.
I told Jeff I hoped he that left something rotten in their vehicle......
I don't wish epilepsy on anyone's pet evet but by the Grace it was a blessing in this instance.
I have no personal enemies of any kind from my life outside the forestry foum. Within the realm of the Forestry Forum, Danny, we know what's possible. How did they pick my dog and who were they.
Wow that's really scary. So happy you have him back. With all the cameras around maybe someone got a shot of the car in your neighborhood that timeframe. May want to have Tammy check with the neighbors.
I'm so happy you got him back .
There has been dog theft in my area 3 times in the last five years. They took one dog and got ran off by others in the next town over. It's a real thing.
Do you have a doggie door so he can come and go? Might want to block it at night.
Glad you got your buddy back. Sounds like the thieves had been casing the neighborhood and knew he was there. There's a special place waiting for people that do things like this.
Yeah, and the droughts and lowered water levels out west in places like Las Vegas are turning up a lot of them from those special places.
Glad your dog is back.
Tammy and Jeremy are getting him chipped today. He was to the vet for a once over. The vet noted he was skitty and not himslf, but crap, he was dognapped and left to die along a road. We've added some other security too.
If you find out who did it, contact me and I'll come all the way up there just to get my stomps in.
Maybe the perpetrator can host this year's pig roast gathering😁
If I found the folks they would get the Yellowstone treatment then I would drive them to the train .
My blood boils thinking about it.
Glad you tightened things up around your place. I wouldn't think about it. I would do it! A Couple of them cell cameras you were thinking about would be pretty handy.
Keep in mind that Sawyer will probably remember them if he sees or smells them again. There is a forensic files episode about a dog who helped id the perps.
The cellular set of eyes would be some cheap insurance and peace of mind when somebody knows your not home. Somebody knew you weren't there!!
I was at our camp in the mountains yesterday so just now read this, it made my jaw tighten up and that doesn't happen often, only when I'm about to go ballistic on someone. It's probably best if you or none of us ever learn who did it.
My son and wife were both there. Jeremy was up and saw sawyer at 2:30am go back in the house. At 4, when Tammy got up, he was gone.
Breaking news from Court TV - here comes the jury.
Judge - what is your finding?
Foreman of the jury - Judge we impartial dog-loving jury find that no crime has been committed and recommend the accused be set free immediately. We further recommend his firearm be returned to him forthwith and the county replace or reimburse him for one full magazine of ammo.
That chip is a great idea. All three of my dogs got the chip.
That was found/taken by someone.
I wonder if the dog somehow got out.
I know any of my dogs have a fit when someone comes up the driveway.
I have a dog now that just about has a fit when a vehicle goes up or down the road. Good thing we live on a dead-end dirt road.
Jeff,
How is the dog doing?
If they could only talk.
He's a bit skitty Tammy said, but after what he was through, and we will probably never know. That is unlike him. Where it was noticable was at the vet. He loves going to the vet with no fears. Yesterday was different.
Many times when they steal big dogs they use drugged treats to keep them mellow. Some drugs can make the dogs skitty as they come out of their system so give him a couple days. Videos on YouTube do spread a lot of personal info that sometimes attracts questionable people.

I'm in too!!
Too bad the dog and you guys had to go through this. It's a shame that the world has a few idiots out there.
One time we had the opposite happen. We were working all day in the fields harvesting. Came home, opened the shed door. Out comes a big black lab. It was a nice dog, other than it's habit of wanting to bite your shoes, with your feet in them. Unfortunately it did not live long. My cousins were walking down to where we get on the school bus, and the dog bolted to go great them. It made it's last leap out in front of a car. And we have next to no traffic at all here.
Glad that he was found and back home safe Jeff! He had quite an experience and I thank the Missaukee County Sheriff Deputy for the caring action. Good that he is getting a chip.
