By BIL salvaged it from an old abandoned store on his property. He thinks it may be part of a butter churn. It is about 4 feet long.

Not sure, but it looks like an old wooden liquid hand pump.
I don't think they had soft, lotiony, soap back when men were men and mice were scared. :D
We had a wooden bilge pump in an old wood boat when I was a kid that looked similar, but different.
It does look like a hand bilge pump. A vintage piece if it is.
I'd be willing to go with pump, especially after seeing the leather washer on the end
It is a barrel hand pump. The taper would fit in the top bung hole on the barrel.
Ok, while we're on the subject...what's this? My mom bought this for me years ago at a flea market because it was made of wood. It's been sitting in the basement.

Any of you guys who are old enough to remember a wooden barrel pump were likely focused on drinking the hard cider to pay attention to what pumped it out of the barrel. :D

Looks like a wooden work bench vise.

Some sort of mid-evil torture device..
I like the wood vise idea... but it could be used as a can crusher too. ;D
Or to crack walnuts... hmmm? maybe a camel starter, to get him to drink more water? (old joke)
Gotta be a barrel pump. Used metal ones in lacquer thinner drums in the body shop.
Vise yes, but what are those red claws to the right of the blue water tank?
Those are reindeer antlers of course.

Lol, Jill got a chuckle out of that one Bill.
Brent
That's the way to 'sell it' Bill. You look so enthused! :D
I'm glad you liked that Jill. You're right Tom, I should have smiled and had a red glowing nose.
I believe your expression was spot on appropriate for the sitgeeyation
I hope my BIL is entertained with all this humor. 8)I haven't heard from him.
I'm going with cheese press for Firefighters contrivance
More reluctant reindeer :)

Just don't move the barrel after the potion is done, you'll have 50 gals of vinegar :o :D.
I'm not sure what it is but I want to know how you got your chair and rug to stick to the ceiling.
