AWWW, he's a cutie. Good for you both!
Congrats! Looks like a fine "log dog" and companion on the rides to town for supplies.
Congratulations! Very cute
You have that wrong, He found a new friend. :)
You both are some lucky to find each other.
Nice pooch! smiley_thumbsup
Awesome news! He needed a home and now he has you to thank for one!
Congrats Bruno and Mr No-name-Yet.
Life is not complete without a four legged buddy!
Our lil girl discovered squirrels today.(https://forestryforum.com/gallery/albums/userpics/19307/IMG_4201.jpeg?easyrotate_cache=1683073069)
She thinks they're a great invention!
Looks Like a great new buddy!!
Maybe that's his name?
Congrats Jim. 8)
What a beauty. Congrats!
If cedar had not become cedar, my second choice was Burch. :)
I'm thinking Piney
I like it!
Fantastic! I think your "new friend" has a new friend too!
Piney sounds like an excellent name. Glad you found each other.
I was thinking, Bark, Burl, Leif, Lem, Woody, Amber, Rosin or some other tree related name.
He comes from Mississippi
The rescue group I got him from wavied the adoption fee.
The ladies husband had a stroke so I'm supplying lumber and labor to close in a lean to on the side of her barn for hay storage. She has rescue horse and goats .
I'm doing it in memory of Smiley
I have had a customer give me money towards hardware for the project.
:) He will be a good friend.
So he likes grits? :D
Congratulations Bruno, What a great exchange. That is the spirit of the FF 8)
Good color, won't show sawdust! Neighbor recently got a Golden Retriever pup, Baxter, neighbor at the old house had a 4 legged Bentley, I liked both those names. Congratulations.
Congrats and may you both share many happy days ahead. If he's gonna be a mill dog you might as well teach him to fetch using an old tape measure so you can get some use out of him. :D
(I heard Tom/OGH got a dog and was teaching to to fetch using a beer can. It was working great till the dog bit too hard and punctured the thin aluminum can, liked the taste and after that all Tom ever got was empty cans and the dog is in rehab right now. I think he named him Purple but just called him perp for short.)
You can name him "Forum" and just call hill "Rum" for short. (Okay, back to my cage again. I never get no respect around here. ::))
You'll need to keep an eye on Piney, around the mill yard.
Jim Rogers
PS. I'm happy for you.
Pretty dog. Get ready for the energy!
Good on both of you. A man needs a dog, a dog needs a man.
mh
Good for you, Bruno. I like people that rescue animals. My next door neighbor is such a person, too. Her dog was rescued and abused. She is incredible with her new dog.
First day at work and already pulled 2 ticks off him
Good dog!
He took the ticks, so that you wouldn't.
Maybe an extra treat tonight for a job well done?

Bruno, my wife (Veterinarian) recommends Bravecto as a good tick preventative treatment for Piney. She uses it on our own dogs.

Thank you Scott
I will look into getting some
Scott - what does your other wife do for a living? :D
I haven't had a puppy for a long time
Smiley was 9 months old when we got her
Someone told me he should be feed 3 times a day till he's 6 months old
Is this a new thing ?
They also want you to wait a lot longer to get them neutered.
Something about cancer and the blown out acls
How special! :) A person who has never owned a dog has missed a wonderful part of life

She says either Bravecto or Frontline Gold for cat's. Not sure about old goats though... perhaps you should ask @POSTON WIDEHEAD (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=14625) ?!

I had my dog Timber neutered at 5 months old. the vet told me then, 13 years ago they could do it earlier and it really does make a better dog. He is called the marathon dog in the neighbourhood as he has never been tied up and roams all around the lake. Mainly looking for kids to play with as they will throw a ball for hours with him.
Maybe Scotts wife could chime in here.
Max my last male puppy was neutered very young.
He died of bone cancer
He was a great dog he didn't go around peeing on everything
I just don't want to cause any health issues .
Typically she recommends earlier spay / neuter for most dogs and cats.
Piney is fitting right in at the mill yard
He goes in and out of the sawmill both
Like he owns the place :D
Jr draws is getting bigger every day
He's smart and a good learner

Good looking pup, Bruno.
I really like the pic in the truck, them feet/legs look like he's gonna get big.
He's a cute little guy!
Nice looking pup there. Looks like the (good) neighbours 2 dogs. Of course their "smarts" run to finding holes in the fence and visiting to check the cat food bowls in our kitchen. :D But they are nice dogs. so it's not a problem. Give them an ear scratch and take them home.
I've been feeding Cedar twice a day, along with Harley. Cedar's food was half puppy food and half what Harley eats, now that he is 6 months, we switched him to a third puppy food 2/3s the adult food.
I'm waiting until cedar is over a year old. I want as much testosterone as possible there to build muscle and size especially to try and prevent things like hip issues later in life. We have been feeding the same foods to our dogs for many years, Sawyer was the first to die at less than 12 years old. The aussiies lived to 16 and 17.
We've been feeding twice a day, he's eating more than the pair of old dogs were. He's also way more active. He heard the coyotes a couple of nights in a row over the weekend, and had to let everyone know. He went to play at some friends the other day, first smile since the stroke, they do the big work :).
Great looking pup. I fed Chief the puppy food until he was almost a year old, then switched to adult. Don't know if that was the right thing to do or not. Had someone suggest about getting him fixed. I still think of him being in his teenage years and I feel he is a little young to get fixed. Open to advice from those that know more than me. He also is about as friendly of this breed that I have ever seen and part of me would like to get up with another heeler owner and get some pups out of him. See if the traits are passed on.
