Title: Edger
Post by: Mylo69 on May 05, 2023, 02:29:41 PM
Question to anyone that can help. I am trying to figure out what size sheave I need to run my edger. It is a twin blade Montgomery 27. The drive sheave on edger is 11-1/4 inch diameter. I have a Detroit 3-71 to run it. What rpm should the edger run? What rpm should the 3-71 run? Finally what size sheave on the engine will make all that happen?

Considering you have a common board edger, they turn 1800 to 2000 rpm. I think you will be way over powered so you need to find out how slow the 3-53 can be run without fouling it up [from running too slow. My guess is 1800 on the detroit and that is the same as electric would be. So If I am correct the pullies will be the same size. [1 to 1]
